Privacy Policy
Last updated: 23 October 2026
This policy explains how the Igreja Evangélica em Eiras collects and uses personal data when you use the church's website. The site keeps as little as it can: nothing optional loads without your permission.
Who we are
The website belongs to the Igreja Evangélica em Eiras. Responsible for the site's data: to be published soon.
If you have questions about this policy, please contact us through the page Contact us.
Data we collect
- Messages you send us through the “Contact us” page: your name, email address, subject and message.
- Details of the people who run the site: their name, their username and, if they give one, their email address.
- Technical data: the IP address and browser of the people who run the site, kept with each of their sessions, and the IP address of whoever logs in, sends a message or searches the sermons, used for a few minutes to limit attempts.
- Visit statistics, only if you accept them in the cookie banner.
How we use your data
- Reply to the messages you send us.
- Give the people who run the site access to it, and keep that access secure.
- Protect the site and its forms.
- Measure site traffic when you accept the statistics.
Cookies and analytics
We use essential cookies to keep the site working and secure.
We only use visit statistics if you accept them in the cookie banner.
- A session cookie (_igrejaeiras_session), which every visitor gets. It is essential for security: it holds the code that protects the site's forms and the one that lets your browser run only the site's own scripts. It holds only technical values and is deleted when you close your browser.
- A login cookie (session_id), only for the people who run the site. It keeps them logged in, ends 14 days after it was last used (90 days after logging in at the latest), and is deleted when they log out.
- A cookie with your answer to the cookie banner (cookie_consent), which is essential: it keeps your answer for 12 months, so that you aren't asked on every page.
- Your choice between light and dark mode, kept only in your browser and never sent to the site.
- Cloudflare's visit statistics (Cloudflare Web Analytics), only if you choose “Accept”. They record the pages visited (without the part of the address after the “?”), the site you came from, your country, device type, browser and operating system, and how long the pages take to load. Cloudflare says it does not follow individual visitors across the sites that use this service.
Sharing and disclosure
We do not sell your personal data.
Some services from other companies help the site work:
- Cloudflare delivers and protects the site: every visit passes through it, and it receives the visitor's IP address.
- The map on the “Find us” page is Google's, and it loads only when you choose “Show map”. From then on, Google receives data about your visit.
- The events come from the church's public Google calendar, which the site's server reads. Your browser never contacts Google for it.
- Messages from the “Contact us” page: the name, address, subject and message go through Cloudflare to the church's mailbox (a Gmail account, at Google). The site keeps no copy.
- On the “Contact us” page, Cloudflare Turnstile checks that whoever sends the message is a person. In Cloudflare's words, it processes only the data strictly necessary to provide this security function, and does not access, store or transmit form entries.
We may share data when required by law.
Retention
We keep personal data only as long as necessary for the purposes described above, or as required by law.
Backups of the site's database are encrypted and kept in the European Union.
Your rights
- Request access to, correction or deletion of your personal data, through the “Contact us” page.
- Withdraw your permission for the statistics at any time, with “Cookie settings” at the bottom of every page.
- Request restriction or portability where applicable.
- Complain to Portugal's data protection authority, the Comissão Nacional de Proteção de Dados (CNPD): www.cnpd.pt.
Changes
We may update this policy from time to time. The latest version will be published on this page.
